(Washington, DC)  — The DC Council is meeting for the last time this year, meaning it’s the last time Chairman Vincent Gray will preside over the legislative body.  Gray will be sworn in as the city’s mayor on January 2nd.  One of the issues councilmembers will be tackling concerns online travel sites and the amount of taxes they pay when tourists book rooms in the city.  The council will vote on a bill that would require online sites to pay the city’s hotel tax on the full price that someone pays for a room in the city, not the wholesale price that the Websites are paying.  Those who use the sites to book the room pay the full tax either way, but some members of the council say the Websites then pocket the difference instead of paying it to the city.
