Voters in the District of Columbia are going to the polls to elect a mayor and other offices.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. Tuesday and will close at 8 p.m.

The outcome of the election has been expected for more than a month. D.C. Council Chairman Vincent Gray beat incumbent Mayor Adrian Fenty in September’s Democratic primary in the city, and Gray now has no Republican opponent. Still, a small group is urging voters to write Fenty’s name in on the ballot.

Voters are also being asked on the ballot whether the city’s attorney general should be appointed, as he is now, or elected. They are also choosing a delegate to the U.S. House and a chairman and members of the D.C. Council.
