UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:

When life puts obstacles in our paths, we are tempted to abandon the promises the future holds. Why don’t we believe the promises made to us? Caleb and Joshua believed that God would lead Israel to possession of the Promised Land and tried to persuade the people to trust God’s faithfulness.

CONCLUDING REFLECTION:

This lesson teaches that through God-given endurance and encouragement of the Scriptures, we can have hope. Caleb and Joshua’s confidence was rejected by the Israelites. Self-doubt is a cruel and crippling emotion. It robs its victims of security, dignity, composure and resourcefulness. Those who are convinced of God’s omnipotence never minimize the divine resources. Empowered by God, the smallest of grasshoppers can give giants a rough time. Stand on God’s promises; they are true.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, when times are tough and our way is not clear, help us to trust in you and your hold words. Do not let us grow weary in well doing for in due season we will reap if we faint not. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
