THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A FORM OF MUSIC CREATED IN WASHINGTON, D.C MIGHT BECOME THE OFFICIAL MUSIC OF THE CITY.

“GO-GO” music; a popular style of music that was started in D.C., and glamorized by legendary “CHUCK BROWN,”  and known around the world at D.C.’s creation has a great chance to become official.

Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie introduced legislation to the D.C. City Council on Tuesday, June 4 to make Go-Go “The Official Music of the District of Columbia.

McDuffie:  “To me and so many other Washingtonians, go-go has become so much more than just a musical genre.”  “Go-go is woven into the cultural fabric of Washington, D.C.” .

The entire council supports the proposal, which will be considered next by the Committee of the Whole.
