UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE: When people have discovered a greater purpose in life, they may be uncertain of what to do with that discovery. Where can persons find directions for implementing that greater purpose to benefit others? Jesus gave the first disciples direction to heal and witness to the “lost” persons of their shared community.
CONCLUDING REFLECTION: The people were helpless and harassed. Their need was great, but the workers were few. Jesus charged the disciples to pray for God to send workers—as the need was great and the workers were few. Although all the original twelve disciples were men and Jews, the Holy Spirit is steadily widening the circle. Will you answer the call?
PRAYER: Eternal God, give us a heart for missions and evangelizing your Word. When we say yes to your call, give us faith enough to trust in your providential hand as we go about the business of your kingdom. Bless the work you have assigned our hands to do. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
