Oscar nominated actress Taraji P. Henson is not afraid to ask for professional help in dealing with her ever increasing responsibilities and stellar acting career.

The star recently admitted that she battles with depression and anxiety, and had this to say: “My anxiety is kicking up even more every day, and I’ve never really dealt with anxiety like that. It’s something new.”

To help her handle it all, she has enlisted the help of a therapist. She said that it took a few tries to find the right fit, and states that finding a therapist is like finding the right “relationship”, where you have to feel comfortable. Additionally, she has also started a foundation to change the stigma surrounding mental health issues in communities of color.

We wish her well and we also commend her for seeking help.

Another reminder that there is no shame in asking for help.
