Lesson Title: SUBMIT TO GOD IN CHRIST

Adult/Young Adult Topic: Good from Bad

Printed Text: Philippians 1:12-21

KEY VERSE: Philippians 1:21 (NIV)

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Source: Townsend Press Sunday School Commentary – 98th Edition, 2018-2019

UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:

It is easy to become demoralized by difficult circumstances and adversaries. How can people maintain their joy? Paul willingly submitted to God’s will and rejoiced that his sufferings had led to further proclamation of the Gospel.

CONCLUDING REFLECTION:

Our commitment to God and to the Gospel of Jesus Christ is not dependent on circumstances, but on our faith in the reliability of God and His Word. Our Christian witness depends on God, not on the imperfect vessels who deliver the witness. We must pray for those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness and even assist them in tangible ways when possible.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, when we encounter various trials in this life, please grant us the peace that surpasses understanding so that whatever happens to us in this life, we can honestly say, “It is well with my soul.”  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
