UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:

Some people wait a long time for a promise to be kept. What assurance do we have that God’s promise about salvation will be kept? God’s angel spoke to Mary, and the Holy Spirit spoke through Simeon, to declare that in Jesus, God was sending a Savior and keeping the promise.

CONCLUDING REFLECTION:

Mary was a woman with strong faith who was willing to be used by God. Joseph does not usually receive much notice or credit as the earthly father of Jesus, but from all indications he was a faith father who loved his wife, raised his son and supported his family. It is important today to celebrate faithful fathers, caring mothers, healthy marriages, and functional families. The Christmas season can be a wonderful time to sow seeds of support for strong families and to make plans for the intentional nurturing of marriages and family relationships throughout the year.

PRAYER:

Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus into the world to bring light and love into the world and to bring peace and good will to all of humanity forevermore. May the joy you bring spread into our families and make a difference throughout the entire year to come. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
