There is some controversy about to happen in a small city in Georgia called “Hephzibah.”

A school in Hephzibah, Georgia is making national news after the administration sent consent forms home to the parents to inform them that they wanted to institute a new policy, which is actually a policy of 40  years ago!!

What this administration wants to do is bring paddling back as a form of punishment!!!  They actually want to spank the students.

The school is called “The Georgia School of Innovation and the Classics (GSIC), and it’s kindergarten through 9th grade and a Charter School.  On the consent form, they described the paddling as being on the behind with a wooden board.

Now here is the surprising thing, about 100 forms came back and a little over one third of the parents gave the school the consent to paddle their child.

SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT:  “In this school, we take discipline very seriously,” the superintendent said. “There was a time where corporal punishment was kind of the norm in school and you didn’t have the problems that you have.”

The paddle will be 24 inches in length, six inches in width and 3/4 inches in thickness, the form specifies. Parents will be notified if their child is to be paddled by an administrator, according to the form.

So the question is:  WOULD YOU ALLOW A SCHOOL TO PADDLE YOUR CHILD?
