UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:

Some people eagerly accept invitations to important events, while others feel that they have better things to do. What are the consequences of rejecting such invitations? Jesus declared that those who reject His invitation will not be allowed into His kingdom.

CONCLUDING REFLECTION:

Those who say “yes” to God’s invitation and prize it over all that the world has to offer will be seated at God’s table in this life and in the promised eschaton (end of the age) to which we are moving. This parable should be heard as a prophetic word of Jesus to a church rapidly becoming fixed in custom and tradition; a church uttering pious phrases, comfortable in a false confidence of its own salvation, and no longer inviting to God’s table the poor, the maimed, the lame and the blind.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, give us the wisdom and good judgment to discern those things that are truly important in life. Help us not to major in minor things, but to be able to discern when and where your redemptive purposes are at work in our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.
