It’s been going on for two seasons now, and the controversy whether to stand or kneel during the National Anthem is over.

Yesterday, the NFL Owners unanimously approved a policy that would require players to stand for the National Anthem.  The players have a choice to either stand or go into the Locker Room.

Many believe that this is a personal compromise from Commissioner Roger Goodell, while others believe that the true message of the players is still not met.

The new anthem policy states that players “shall stand and show respect for the flag and anthem.” Issue with this: it implies that those that kneeled weren’t respecting the flag. Furthering the false idea that the protests were about the flag. The protests are about injustice.

Colin Kaepernick, who is regarded as the sole author of the protest said last offseason that he was not going to kneel during the Anthem anymore.  Eric Reid, his San Francisco 49’ers teammate who also was one that knelt with him said the exact same time, but they both remain unemployed.

No active player has definitively said that they will continue to kneed in 2018.
