The impact of school shootings is being felt across the country, especially with young children.
In Alabama, 12-year-old Javon Davis wrote a will just in case he dies in a school shooting. The sixth grader and his best friend Cameron wrote letters to one another listing what they would leave each other if they died during such an incident.
Javon’s mother, Mariama Davies, was surprised to hear that her son felt compelled to prepare for his own death.
“It’s really hard because he’s so young. He just shouldn’t have to go through that period, because, for what?” “He’s in sixth grade. You have a lot ahead of you, and these things going on, you shouldn’t have to worry about, go through or even think about.”
In his will, Javon left his beloved PlayStation 4, cat, TV and Xbox to his best friend. He ended the letter with the following words, “Dear family, I love you all. You gave me the clothes on my back and you stuck with me all the time. Love, Javon.”
Mariama Davies said with all the shootings occurring across the United States it’s the reality of the world, but they won’t live in fear.
“I know it’s going to be ok because God got me in his hands,” Javon said.
