AMAZON is building a new headquarters in the United States and Prince George’s County wants it right in their county.
Prince George’s Country and County Executive Rushern Baker is make a huge pitch to acquire the retail giant and are offering 3 suitable locations that Amazon will have to choose from.
Baker and his Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Economic Development are offering sites in Greenbelt, College and New Carrolton right near the New Carrolton Metro Station.
The County officials say it’s too early to talk about incentives but say that each site will offer from 100 to 300 acres to develop.
While there’s national competition for the Amazon facility, there’s also local competition, including from inside Maryland.
Gov. Larry Hogan — a Republican who could face a challenge from Baker, who’s running in the 2018 Democratic primary — has already made a strong pitch to locate the new Amazon headquarters in Baltimore.
