A Dallas Cowboys wide receive and kick returner named “Lucky Whitehead” was released by the team on Monday (yesterday) after he was arrested for shoplifting in Prince William County, Virginia; a suburb of Washington, D.C.
Whitehead’s Agent Dave Rich is denying the incident saying that it is a case of mistaken identity, but Prince William County Police Sgt. Jonathan Perok said 25-year-old Rodney Darnell Whitehead Jr. was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on Monday for taking about $40 worth of food and drink from a convenience store.
Lucky Whitehead was escorted off the field by a member of the Cowboys’ Public Relations Staff at the Training Camp in Oxnard, California.
The Cowboys moved swiftly in releasing Whitehead after two defensive players were arrested during the offseason.
