Lesson Title: GOD AS OUR SHEPHERD

Adult/Young Adult Topic: I’VE GOT YOUR BACK

Printed Text: Psalm 23:1-6

Key Verse: Psalm 23:1 (NIV)

THE LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Source: Townsend Press Sunday School Commentary – 96th Edition, 2016-2017

UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:

People face challenges that may seem too difficult to endure. Where can they find the support and reassurance to face these challenges? The psalmist promised that God’s love provides what is necessary to confront any difficulties and to live in a fulfilling and intimate relationship with God.

CONCLUDING REFLECTION:

The Lord Jesus, our Shepherd, tells us that we shall not want. He has gracious sufficiency for His children. Indeed, God is all that and more! We can have a feeling of reassurance every day as we realize that no matter what, God has our backs. Even children understand that fact.

PRAYER:

God, our Shepherd, we thank you for your daily provision. We recognize that we are not worthy even of one blessing. We will continually praise your name for your many blessings. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
