Former D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams instituted a new law entitled “DON’T BLOCK THE BOX” years ago.   It was started to keep drivers from blocking intersections so traffic could move smoothly.

Now Maryland Legislators have instituted the exact same thing — ‘DON’T BLOCK THE BOX.”

The goal of the bill is to address the problem of traffic congestion, to make the state’s roadways and intersections safer and to increase the road capacity during busy hours.

So if you are driving in D.C. and The State of Maryland, if you come to an intersection and the light turn yellow, if you go thru it make sure you are able to clear the whole intersection, if not you’re be charged with “BLOCKING THE BOX.”
