UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:

We often take for granted how we get the good things we enjoy. What is the source of our material bounty? The psalmist called us to praise God for the bounty that God provides.

CONCLUDING REFLECTION:

Trusting God’s hearing, responding, and abundant answering of prayer before we experience it completely in our lives becomes the beauty of singing the psalms. In a manner, they provide us the end of the story for our lives—often even before the book has even been written. That is why a song of joyful praise becomes truly important for new converts and believers.

PRAYER:

Great God, thank you for hearing our prayers. We are humble enough to recognize that there is nothing so special about us to warrant your listening to our prayers; yet you afford us the opportunity to call on you anyway. Develop our belief in the righteousness in which you will respond to our prayers that we may trust in your way completely. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

BIBLE FACT:

PROVIDER: As the provider, God is recognized in this psalm for His manifold blessings in nature and His gracious dealings with His people. Warren Wiersbe, in his commentary on the Old Testament, says that God is the God of Creation.
