There is a restaurant in Ashburn, Virginia that’s getting a lot of press.  It started out as bad press, but it’s beginning to turn in to good press.

Here’s what’s happening.  A waitress at the “Anita’s New Mexico Style Cafe” in Asburn name “Kelly Carter” who happens to be Black waited on a White couple.  That’s nothing unusual, but what happened when the couple left is very unusual .  When the couple left the restaurant, they didn’t leave Ms. Kelly a tip. So when she picked up their receipt, the couple left a handwritten message on the receipt.

The message on the receipt said “Great Service don’t tip black people.”

The Waitress Kelly Carter said she was shocked by the message.  She said at first she could not believe what she was reading.  She said the note was left by a White Man and Woman who appeared to be in their 20’s.

The restaurant owner Tommy Tellez, Sr. said, “I’m appalled. This is so disheartening.”  He also said that Kelly Carter is a great worker and he’s blessed to have her.

Two of her regular customers witnessed her reaction the message were outraged by the note, took a picture of it and posted it on Facebook.  In one day alone, the note had been shared over 900 times!!!

Since this story has hit the news, there’s been a turn of events.  Instead of outrage, customers have been coming by the restaurant giving her money and giving her hugs.   The owner said “People were just coming in dropping cash off”!!

Kelly Carter said “If that same Couple came in again, she would wait on their again with no hesitation.”
