The Baseball team that had the longest streak in history for not winning a Major League Championship ended last night when the Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians 8-7 in an extra innings thriller!!!

With the score tied at the end of 9 innings, the game had to go into extra innings and even endure a 17 minute rain delay, but nobody left and fans endured the rain just to see which team would break their curse.

Both cities were prepared for a 100 year celebration as Chicago hadn’t won a championship in 108 years and Cleveland hadn’t won one in 68 years.  For fans of both cities, it seemed like a lifetime, and for most fans it was there lifetime, but for the citizens for The Windy City, that all ended in sweet fashion as their Cubs brought home the Prize.

In the last out, Third Baseman Kris Bryant fielded a ground ball and he started smailing even before he threw the runner out as he knew that that catch and throw was the beginning of something new and the ending of something old.  As he threw the runner out, the City of Chicago exploded with cheers of happiness!!

The Series MVP Ben Zobrist couldn’t believe what he had just witness, but just said “We Did it – We Did it”!!
