Just about a month after the NBA pulled the NBA All Star Game from Charlotte to New Orleans, the NCAA, the Governing Body of College Sports has followed suit and pulled seven championship events from the state during the 2016-2017 basketball tournament.  The NCAA Board of Governors made this decision because of North Carolina’s stance on the against lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender individuals.

This is the official statement from the NCAA  on the matter:

“Fairness is about more than the opportunity to participate in college sports, or even compete for championships,” said Mark Emmert, NCAA president. “We believe in providing a safe and respectful environment at our events and are committed to providing the best experience possible for college athletes, fans and everyone taking part in our championships.”

Even though the NBA has pulled out and the NCAA has pulled out of North Carolina, a lot of money, and I mean a lot of money in the billions will be lost from the state’s economy; and even with the enormous amout of money lost, North Carolina is standing firm and I still believe North Carolina got it right!!!
