UNIFYING LESSON PRINCIPLE:
Sometimes people find themselves living, relating, or working with others with whom they feel no common connection, from whom they feel separated, and toward whom they feel antagonistic. What or who can unite all people in a new community with common values? Paul wrote that belief in Jesus Christ is a core belief around which both Jews and Gentiles can be united.
CONCLUDING REFLECTION:
Today, we can learn a lot from the characteristics of the olive trees of Paul’s day. Just like the church, they are durable, productive and good for multiple purposes! The church has a number of ministries. Like the fruit of the olive tree, these ministries fill a number of needs in the communities in which they church is located. They offer health and wellness opportunities, job training, Christian counseling, food pantries, clothes closets, small business incubators, and schools. These are just a few of the ministry fruits borne by today’s church.
PRAYER:
Righteous God, we are grateful that you thought enough of us to graft us into your trunk of salvation. We humbly serve others in our ministry to you. We strive daily to reflect your love as we go about our daily activities. We look forward to the day when your children Israel join us in praising your Son as Savior. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
