Police are investigating the murders of three Sudanese immigrants in Indiana.

The two men, and a teen were murdered inside of their Fort Wayne home.

Mohamedtaha Omar, 23, Adam Kamel Mekki, 20, and Muhannad Adam Tairab, 17 were shot multiple times in the head according to police, the New York Daily News reports.

“They will always be remembered as good kids,” Abdelaziz Hassab, a relative of Omar and Tairab, told WANE-TV. “Always have been diligent to help their families and look for a better future.”

The trio’s demise is marked by even more tragedy. The men fled their native Sudan to live in the United States in hopes of escaping genocide.

We all came here to find peace and security,” Hassab said. “We’re from the war zones, but the destiny waiting for us is real crazy.”

Fort Wayne Police Chief made a statement saying, “I hope this is the very last incidence this ever happens within our community. I need you to not retaliate to take this upon yourself. I need someone to come and tell me what they know.”

We hope whoever is responsible for these atrocities is brought to justice quickly.
