Washington police have tracked down a man suspected of burglarizing businesses across the city after he logged into Twitter from one of his crime scenes.

Police say in an affidavit that they have linked 33-year-old Thomas Matthew Collodel to several burglaries between Dec. 30 and Jan. 24. He is charged with five counts of burglary.

Police say their investigation was helped when Collodel broke into the Bentley luxury apartments and signed on to his own Twitter account from a computer on the concierge desk. Pictures on his Twitter account matched surveillance footage from the Bentley, which authorities say showed him using the computer.

Collodel was arrested Saturday during what court documents describe as a violent struggle that left two officers injured. He has also been charged with assault on a police officer.
