WASHINGTON (AP) — Protesters affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement are planning a rally in downtown Washington to highlight cases involving alleged police misconduct.

The group called Stop Police Terror Project DC says it plans to “shut down” the Chinatown neighborhood, which is known for its nightlife, on New Year’s Eve. The march is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. outside the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station.

The group is calling attention to two cases: the fatal shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice by a Cleveland police officer and the death of Sandra Bland in police custody in Texas. In both cases, grand juries recently decided not to indict the police officers involved. Protesters plan to call for justice on behalf of Tamir and Bland.
