Around 7:30 a.m., service was suspended on the Blue and Silver lines between Eastern Market and Benning Road. On the Orange line, service was suspended between Eastern Market and Minnesota Avenue.

The smoke forced the closure of the Stadium-Armory station, Metro says.

D.C. Fire and EMS dispatched units at 7:15 a.m. to RFK Stadium’s lot 6.

 Metro Transit Police tweeted that the incident is at a traction power substation in RFK lot that is owned by Metro. Initially, it was believed it was not on Metro property.

The transit agency says Blue Line trains are operating between Franconia-Springfield and Rosslyn, but riders will need to transfer to the Silver Line at Rosslyn to continue to downtown D.C.

Metro says bus service has been set up between Eastern Market and Minnesota Avenue and between Eastern Market and Benning Road.

According to tweet from Metro riders, there are lines for those shuttles.
