Gospel singer Tye Tribbett sits down to talk about the issues he’s faced in his marriage. He admitted to cheating on his wife of 13 years and suffering from depression which in turn, had him “contemplating suicide”. Singersroom.com reports:

…[Tye Tribbett] had an affair in 2009 with a woman in his choir, Greater Anointing. His wife Shante sought revenge when she cheated on Tribbett with another man.

“I thought it was something that will never happen,” said Tribbett to the Associated Press. “I saw infidelity with my mum and dad who was a pastor, which made them split. I told myself I would never do that. So when it happened to my marriage, it was like, ‘Whoa.’ God broke down my self-righteousness, my pride…”

“When I was between my house and my mum’s home (during the separation), I was contemplating suicide-almost every day.” The couple has two daughters, and their relationship has been mended. Tribbett says that their union is now stronger than ever.

“Every second it’s like we are texting each other,” he said. “We’ve been married for 13 years, but it’s kind of like we are dating again. Personally, this is a fresh start for me as a husband and a father.”

This is a testament to the fact that we are all human and make mistakes in life. It seems as though Tye is learning from his and working to become a better man and husband.
