Scenes for an upcoming Law & Order: Special Victims Unit being shot Tuesday in front of the courthouse on 60 Centre St. indicate the show will be adapting the Trayvon Martin case for the small screen.
The crime drama is known for using real-life trials and crimes for inspiration.
In the upcoming episode, Cybill Shepherd plays a vigilante-like character loosely based on George Zimmerman, reports the New York Daily News.
George Zimmerman was charged with the second degree murder of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman pleaded not guilty, claiming self defense, and a Florida jury acquitted him of all charges.
In the scene filmed Tuesday, Shepherd and her lawyer, played by Jeffrey Tambor, are swarmed by protesters as they leave the courthouse.
The episode is set to air sometime during October.
