D.C. Hosts Earnest Pugh CD Release Party

EPM Music Group and Black Smoke Music Worldwide recording artist Earnest Pugh celebrated the release of his new CD “Earnestly Yours” at the Atrium at Treetops Monday night. Several hundred friends, listeners, church members and recording artists came to support the man who recorded songs such as the Thomas Whitfield Classic, “Just For Who You Are,” “Wrapped Up, Tied Up, Tangled Up,” “The Great I Am,” and the #1 Gospel Single, “Rain On Us.” The new CD “Earnestly Yours” goes on sale Tuesday June 28th. Earnest Pugh is known for his riveting 5-octave range and his unmatched ability in weaving his crystal clear vocals around gospel music’s power ballads. This psalmist, musician, and songwriter is primed to take the industry by storm. Although seemingly out of nowhere, Earnest Pugh’s love story with music started in Memphis, Tennessee where he was discovered by groundbreaking gospel pioneer O’Landa Draper.

One Woman’s Quest To Save Gospel Comes To Life

This past Sunday on “60 Minutes” the voice of a woman’s prayers were heard.There’s a street in Harlem that comes alive every Saturday with the sound of gospel music. You won’t find any church there – just a brownstone full of teenagers and the woman who draws them in. In 2006, legendary writer and producer Vy Higginsen and gospel legend Dr. Emily ”Cissy” Houston joined forces to teach aspiring teenagers about the importance of gospel music as an art form. Ms. Higgins feels that we need to work on not losing the voice of who we are and where we come from. Her answer to this concern was creating “Gospel for Teens”. She empowers young people though this program to further express, explore and continue the voice of Gospel.

Gospel for Teens Program is a program of The Mama Foundation for the Arts and Vy’s Higginsen’s School of Gospel, Jazz and R&B Arts that has grown to be a highly respected and influential program for youth between the ages of 13 and 19. Under the direction of the Foundation’s seasoned music masters, the Gospel for Teens Choir has performed at various venues across New York City including the world famous Apollo Theater, the American Museum of Natural History, and St. Paul Community Baptist Church.

We are nearing the time of the year that we begin traveling. Whether it is graduation, family reunions or vacation some of these churches we will be dropping in on some of these churches. Make sure that when you are on the road you look up and see what is ahead. Watch the signs.

Some of the signs were just funny. Some of the signs are truthful in a tongue and cheek way. In any case they are amusing to read. Let us know if you see any on your travels.

Our homes are shelter from the storms. If there is chaos and unrest in your home, begin with this prayer when you return tonight. Our homes are the place in which we regroup rest and find peace. It is within the walls we find the ability to recharge our batteries from the day’s demands. A few moments in prayer to prayer for that place that shelters us from the storms of life can only serve to help us and strengthen us.

Many of us work from home. If that is true for you than you can use this prayer as a beginning to your day. Home is also the place in which we have love unconditional. When we have relatives that pass on we say that they are going home. We must never forget that we are just pilgrims n this journey that we have a home that is other than this physical realm but the emotional and soul filled meaning of home.

Bless this home with Your love and peace. May we have as Christ loves the assembly. Strengthen their bond and commitment to one another. May we respect and follow your leading as the shepherd of this household. Let this place be a model to of your love. Fill these rooms with Your joy and laughter. Let these be great halls of learning of Your truth and grace. Let Your glory shine through these windows to the neighbors. May their kind words and consideration for others draw many into Your kingdom. So we bless our home with length of days and years till the setting of the sun. Bless this family richly in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.”

Each day brings a new beginning. It’s a fresh start to possibilities for each of us. What we do with the things that cross our path is exclusively up to us. How we handle the bumps in the road is what defines us as people. There will always be bumps in the road. It is inevitable. It comes with living.

How many of us are truly open to experience each new day? Every moment is another chance for us to elevate and evolve, an opportunity for us to make choices that reflect what we have learned. Yet why do we linger in old patterns and habits?

Many of us know the rules.

For example, we all know that if we want to shed some pounds, we have to eat healthily and exercise. But knowing is completely different from doing. We may “know” that a partner stifles our growth, yet because of our fears, we stay in the relationship. I’m not saying that we can’t learn from “negative” experiences—in fact, many of our greatest lessons may come from our perceived “negative” ordeals.
