The latest U.S. Census Bureau figures show Maryland’s population is higher.  The numbers released today reveal the state’s population grew nine-percent from five-point-three million in 2000 to five-point-seven million this year.  A ten-point-eight percent growth rate was reported between 1990 and 2000 and the state will continue to have eight seats in Congress.  Maryland lawmakers will be tasked with redrawing Congressional district lines next year.
