This year Ash Wednesday falls on February 13, 2013.  It marks the beginning of the Season of Lent. It is a season of penance, reflection, and fasting which prepares us for Christ’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which we attain redemption.

As many Christians and non-Christians are aware, the general masses prepare for the Easter celebration by sacrificing something they regularly enjoy for the Lent season.

Such sacrifices might be a luxury, a bad habit, a temptation, and the like.  Below we have compiled a list of some of some of the most popular things give up for Lent. There is a big chance that one of the items overlaps with what you were considering giving up this Lent season:

1) Chocolate

2) Cigarettes and Alcohol

3)  Facebook

4) Twitter

5) Television (Movies included)

6) Junk Food  (sodas, fast food, bagged cheesy snacks, cookies, and all other things you eat when you’re not actually hungry)

7) Clothes Shopping

Whatever you do, do something as you reflect on all that Jesus went through during his 40 days of being in the wilderness.  If you are looking for support or a small group to join, consider the “B Core Krew,” as we reflect on God’s Blessings from our inner core and support each other for the next forty days.  Our focus will be on health and nutrition, cleansing our temples internally and preparing our minds, bodies and souls for what God has ordained each and every one of us to do.
